with Federal Minister of Economics and Technology Michael Glos
The Near and Middle East in the focus of German foreign economic policy.
According to its rich tradition, the German Near and Middle East Business Association (NUMOV) will host its annual Gala Event on the 16th of February in Berlin. Many personalities from politics, business and culture with an interest in the Near and Middle East will also take part in the event this year. The keynote speaker is Michael Glos, the Federal Minister of Economics and Technology*). The ambassadors of the Near and Middle East region as well as the German ambassadors in the region will also be present. From the business world, personalities such as the Chairman of Deutsche Bahn, Harmut Mehdorn, the Chairman of the Kreditanstalt für Wiederaufbau, Dr. Peter Klaus, and the CEO for Germany of Deutsche Bank, Jürgen Fitschen, will take part in the event.
In view of the current political developments in the Near and Middle East region, NUMOV considers its primary task to be the maintenance of economic relationships with the countries of the Middle East and the support of bilateral relationships that cover various different fields. Dialog with the Arabic and Muslim world should be one of the main concerns of German business and politics. NUMOV will agitate for the maintenance of this dialog and continue to contribute to the development of economic relations. In so doing, the association can already look back on more than 70 years of experience.
We are firmly convinced that the promotion of these relationships and further cooperation with the region are necessary in order to guarantee global stability, security and prosperity.
*)The Minister’s complete speech can be requested as of the 17.02.2006, as can an example of the new NEAR AND MIDDLE EAST ECONOMIC HANDBOOK 2006 of the Near and Middle East Business Association, in case it is reviewed or at least mentioned in the coverage.
