With great sadness, the German Near and Middle East Association farewells
Hans-Jürgen Wischnewski
Federal Minister and Minister of State (retired)
who left us on the 24th of February, 2005.
Hans-Jürgen Wischnewski was our honorary board member from 1999 until his death. With untiring commitment over several decades, he made an outstanding contribution to the fostering of German-Arabic relations.
His work was characterised by courage, reliability and a sense of responsibility, not only in his long political career, but also in his personal engagements. As honorary member of the board, Hans-Jürgen Wischnewski always supported the German Near and Middle East Association with help and good advice. We will hold him in deepest and most respectful remembrance.
